OBITUARY

Departed this life August 30, after a brief illness, Jennie A. McQuoid, from her home near Lebanon, aged eighteen years, four months and three days. Jennie was a bright, cheerful young woman, having a large circle of friends. To have known her was to have loved her for her womanly virtues. She was called suddenly from health to sickness, and thence to the Lord beyond, “where they never say I am sick.” Many are the hearts that sorrow over her departure, but especially to the hearts of her brother and sister, also as one as near to her as life itself to whom she would have soon been joined in holy wedlock. Great devotion was manifested on his part to the one he had chose as the companion of his life. May he be blessed of heaven. Tenderest sympathy is flowing from many hearts to the bereaved. We shall meet again.

“Weep not for her O, she was far to fair,
Too pure to dwell on this guilt tainted earth.
The sinless glory and the golden air
Of Zion, seemed to claim her from her birth.
A spirit wondering from its native zone,
Which soon discovering to her for its own.
Weep not for her.”

Weep not for her---her span was like the sky,
Whose thousand rays shine beautiful and bright,
Like flowers that know not what it is to die,
Like long linked, shedless months of polar light,
Like music floating o’er a nameless lake,
While echo answers from flower brake,
Weep not for me.
