MAYOR SUICIDE AT KEOSAUQUA
-------------------
LEE FELLOWS SHOOTS SELF THROUGH HEAD
IN LOFT OF BARN AT HOME
----------------------
(Special to the Courier)

Keosauqua, Nov. 4---Lee Fellows, 55 years old and for the past two years mayor of Keosauqua, killed himself by shooting through the head this morning.

His body was found in the loft of the barn on his home place near the Rock Island depot by his wife after she had found a note in the home. The text of the note was not made public. Financial trouble is given as the cause of the act.

Fellows was a member of an old and prominent Van Buren county family, being a son of S. D. Fellows, a pioneer in this section. He is survived by his wife; sons, Kenneth of western Iowa and Harold at home; daughters, Mrs. Howard Snyder and Mrs. Harry Murdock of Keosauqua and Miss Vera Fellows of Washington, D. C.; brothers, tom of Des Moines and George of Keosauqua; and sisters, Mrs. Clarence Brown of Portland, Ore., and Mrs. J. P. Starr of Fairfield.

Before becoming mayor Fellows was a member of the council here for a number of years. He was prominent in stock-buying circles and was an ice and coal dealer.

No funeral arrangements have been made.
