MRS. LYDIA M. HOLMES.
Died at Seattle Washington
Saturday, February 15, 1902.
CALLED HOME.

Miss Lydia Manning was born near Wheeling, W. Virginia, May 27, 1819, and departed this life Feb. 15, 1902. She was married to John Holmes April 16, 1840, and to them were born eleven children, four of whom together with her husband have preceded her to the better world.

They came to Iowa in 1850 and lived in Van Buren Co. until the death of her husband in 1885. She was a faithful wife, a loving mother and a kind neighbor. She united with the Harrisburg Baptist church in 1876 and remained a faithful christian until called to her Maker.

After the death of her husband she lived with her only daughter, Mrs. John Reid in Ft. Madison until they moved to Seattle, Washington. Mrs. Holmes lived with this daughter until her death.

Her illness was long and painful, being almost a year, but she bore her sufferings patiently.

She leaves to mourn their loss six sons and one daughter, twenty-one grandchildren and other relatives and a large circle of friends. Her death was sad to them yet not so sad as to those who have no hope of meeting their loved ones.

The funeral services were held February 17th and she was laid to rest in the Lake View cemetery at Seattle, Washington.
