MAUDE S. ROBERTS

Maude Stewart Roberts, daughter of Lewis Stewart and Elizabeth Reid Stewart, was born near Republican City, Nebr. on Sept. 13, 1885, and passed away at the Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua, Iowa on December 28, 1979, at the age of 94.

On March 13, 1904, she was married to Monte Roberts, who preceded her in death on April 9, 1941. To this union were born three children, Therman Roberts, of Powell, Wyo.; Roland B. Roberts, of Wilmington, N. Carolina; and Clair E. Roberts, who was a veteran of WW II, and lost his life in a plane crash on February 12, 1945.

Besides her two surviving sons, she leaves one sister, Mrs. Will Feyhl of Ft. Madison, Iowa; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; five great, great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Three brothers preceded her in death.

Maude was a member of the Cantril United Methodist Church, a charter member of the WSCS (UMW), a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Funeral services were held on Dec. 31, 1979 at the Cantril United Methodist Church, Rev. Ed Kail officiating. Burial was at the Maple Grove Cemetery at Cantril; Priester Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
