Parley Small rites

FARMINGTON - Parley Small, 69, Farmington, former Packwood resident, died Wednesday at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua.

The body was deeded to University of Iowa. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Farmington United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Rozendaal officiating. Memorials to the Diabetes Foundation may be left at the Hofbauer Funeral Home in Farmington. The family requests no flowers.

Small was born Aug. 27, 1918 in McDonaugh County, Ill., the son of James Dayton and Alice Smith Small. He was a farmer and an Army Air Force veteran of World War II. He married Virginia Edmund Nov. 19, 1944 at Packwood. They moved from Packwood to Farmington in 1981. He was a member of Farmington United Methodist Church, the Elks club and VFW at Fairfield and the American Legion at Farmington.

Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mary Hilyar of Long Beach, Calif.; a son, James of Ottumwa; three stepgranddaughters and a brother, Radford Small of Libertyville. His parents preceded him in death.
