Floyd Dorothy, 88, 2097 185th St., died at 8:10 a. m. Friday, April 24, 1998, at Jefferson County Hospital.

Funeral service was at 10 a.m. today at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Rodney Nelson officiating. Burial was in Spencer Cemetery in Stockport. Memorials can be made to the donor’s choice or the Kidney Foundation.

Mr. Dorothy was born April 30, 1909, in Stockport, the son of James and Ella Weaver Dorothy. He married Edith Standley March 24, 1930. She died May 3, 1982. He married Leona McShane Sept. 3, 1983, in Fairfield. She survives.

Mr. Dorothy was a lifelong resident of the Stockport and Fairfield area. He was a retired farmer and self-employed well digger. He also worked at the Ordnance Plant in Burlington. He served on the Taylor school board at Stockport for many years. He was a past member of Fairfield Eagles Lodge and Mount Pleasant Moose Lodge. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening.

In addition to his wife, survivors include one daughter, Vivian Nelson of Normal, Ill.; one son Donnie of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; one step-daughter, Pat McShane Gearhart of Dixon, Ill.; two brothers, Ray of Stockport and Glen of Fairfield; one sister, Nellie Mahon of Keosauqua; eight grandchildren; 17 grandchildren [sic]; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Bessie; and three brothers, Chet. Tom and Mark “Mike”.

Note: the 17 grandchildren should be 17 great-grandchildren.
