Illness Fatal To Emery Gire

Emery Raymond Gire, 56, 510 W. Depot, passed away at 8:30 p.m. Monday, July 25 at the Veterans hospital in Iowa City where he had been taken by ambulance 10 minutes earlier.

The body is at the Weston Behner Funeral Home where last rites are pending.

He was born Jan, 9, 1910 in [sic] William and Dema Wiley Gire. He was married to Cecil Cox July 28, 1951 at Kahoka, Mo., and served in World War II with the Army and was a retired laborer. The home was in Keosauqua until 14 years ago when they moved to Fairfield.

Surviving are his wife and the following children: William and Stanley Gire of Ottumwa; Robert in the Army; Dema and Connie at home and the following step-children: Mrs. Patsy Duff, Rock Falls; Mrs. Louise House, Keosauqua; Mrs. Edith Richardson and Mrs. Marjorie Miller, Belle Flower, Calif.; Mrs. Joyce Simmons, Seattle, Wash., and Robert and Joseph Winters, both in the Navy.

One brother, Stanley Gire of Douds; three sisters, Mrs. June Leathers of Fairfield and Mrs. Willa Hillary and Mrs. Helen White of Galeburg, Ill., and 19 grandchildren, also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters. He was a member of the American Legion.
