Forrest Manley “Pete” Channel, 76, of Dallas, Texas, died at 6:30 p.m. Friday, July 9, 1993, in Dallas.

He was born Oct. 28, 1916, in Van Buren county to Lewis and Katie Brooks Channel. He joined the U.S. Army in 1941 and served during World War II, On September 10, 1943, he married Caroline Pool in Missouri. She preceded him in death on October 6, 1964. He was employed by the Jefferson County Engineering Department and worked at Parsons College and in Cedar Rapids, prior to moving to Dallas in 1981.

Surviving are a daughter, Jalene Channel Stewart of Dallas: one sister, Dorothy Hootman of Douds; two half sisters, Mary Cosby of Burlington and Lena Willier of Milton; four half brothers, Raymond Nedrow and Ralph Nedrow, both of Cedar Rapids, Jay Fredrickson of Sacramento, Calif., and John Nedrow; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sister, Margaret Laughlin and Thelma Talbott; three brothers, Leo, Tom, and William; and one half brother, Robert.

The body was cremated. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date.
