MRS. ETTA EVANS

MILTON. - Mrs. Etta Mae Evans, 75, died at 5:50 p.m. Thursday at her home in Milton after an illness of several weeks.

Born in Davis county September 6, 1879, she was the daugher of Elias and Priscilla Cassat. One August 2, 1904, she was married to Samuel P. Evans, who died June 26, 1954. She was a member of the Christian church and the Pythian Sisters and was president of the Christian aid society for 30 years.

Surviving are two children, Mrs. Mayme Marshall of Milton and John William Evans of Keokuk; one sister, Mrs. Mary Canfield of Davenport, a brother, Harry Cassat of Milton, and one grandson.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Christian church with the pastor, R.G. Pierson in charge. Burial will be in Sunnyside cemetery. The body will be taken from the Wagner funeral home here to the church at noon Saturday, when the casket will be closed.

Etta Mae Evans. age 79[sic] years, died Thursday, Nov. 11, at her home in Milton after an illness of several weeks. She was born in Davis county, Iowa, Sept. 6, 1879, the daughter of Elias and Priscilla Cassat.

On August 2, 1904, she was united in marriage to Samuel P. Evans, who proceeded[sic] her in death June 26, 1954. To this union were born two children, Mayme Marshall of Milton and John William of Keokuk.

Besides her two children she is survived by one sister, Mary C. Canfield of Davenport, a brother Harry Cassat of Milton, a grandson, James Evans of Keokuk, two step-gransons, Richard Casady of Springfield, Mo., and Sam Casady of Springfield, Mo.

She was a member of the Milton Christian church, and had been president of the Ladies Aid Society for 30 years, also an honorary member of the Pythian Sisters and Temple Mother.

Funeral services were held Sautruday, Nov. 13, at the Christian church with R.G. Pierson in charge. Burial was in the Sunnyside cemetery. The body was at the Wagler Funeral Home in Milton prior to burial.
