Loran L. Smith

Loran Lee Smith, age 77, of 200 North 28th, Fairfield, Iowa, died at 11:48 a.m. Friday, July 31, 1987 at the Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

He was born Feb. 4, 1910 in Van Buren County, the son of Frank and Nellie Carter Smith. He married Helen E. Benge, January 30, 1930. She died March 5, 1981.

He had worked in the foundry at Dexter Company for 23 years. He was a member of Church of the Nazarene.

He is survived by one son and two daughters: Kenneth Smith, Crystal, Minn., Florence Hostetter, Fairfield, Iowa, Ruth Simmons, Fairfield. Also surviving are one sister, Hazel Burrows, Fairfield, one half-brother and one half-sister: Carroll Smith, Birmingham, Pearl Stone, Vallejo, Calif.

Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, one son, Clyde, one sister, Goldie and two brothers, Orval and Willis.

Funeral services for Loran Smith was[sic] at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3, 1987 at the Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Robert Kelley officiating.

Burial was in Miller Chapel Cemetery south of Stockport, Iowa
