NOSE DIVE FATAL TO MEMPHIS PILOT;
STUDENT AVIATOR SLIGHTLY INJUREDIowa City, March 24.----(AP)---- Going into a nose dive when his rebuilt airplane developed trouble while he was flying with a pupil near Keosauqua, yesterday afternoon. Eddie Gustafson, aged 25, suffered injuries which resulted in his death today at the University of Iowa hospital here.
The accident occurred at 6 p.m. yesterday. Gustafson was taken to Fairfield in an ambulance and then rushed to the University Hospital. Examination showed that both legs were broken above the knees, his jaw was broken and his skull was crushed.
Gustafson, an unnaturalized Norwegian, had been flying for six years and was connected with the Pleasant Airplane Co. of Memphis, Mo. For three weeks he had been at the home of Grover Bennett, Keosauqua farmer, giving aviation instructions.
His companion in the crash, Kenneth Marriott, aged 18, was only slightly injured.
