James Harvey Barr.
James Harvey Barr was born in Abingdon, Virginia, August 4, 1824, and died at Bonaparte, Iowa March 21, 1909, aged 84 years, 7 months, and 17 days.
The early part of his life was spent in eastern Tennessee. In 1866 he was married to Ellen Edmondson and to this union three children were born.; Charles Barr of Monmouth, Ill., Mrs. Alice Frankenburg, of Seton, Ill., Mrs. Poole of Farmington, Iowa. Two step-children, J. J. Edmondson of Kansas, and Mrs. Sophronia Grimsley of Guthrie, Oklahoma. One son by a former wife preceded him several years ago.
Mr. Barr has been a resident of Van Buren county many years. In Dec. 1904, he had an accident which made an invalid and has caused him to be a constant sufferer. He was a member of the Presbyterian church of Bonaparte being received into that church by letter, Feb. 7, 1897.
Funeral services were held at the late home Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Jas. Clark officiating, with interment in the Bonaparte cemetery.
Mr. Barr was crippled while chopping wood east of Bonaparte. A tree fell on him and injured his hip.
We wish to thank the friends who have been of such great comfort and assistance to us during the illness and death of our husband and father.
MRS. J. H. BARR AND FAMILY.
