Eliza Welch Brooks.

Mrs. Eliza Brooks died at her home in Springfield, Ill., Thursday, March 25, aged 72 years. She is survived by her husband, three sons, and five daughters.

Her father, Rev. Johnson Welch, died when she was an infant. Her brother, Rev. Jas. Welch, resides at Argonia, Kansas. She also leaves two half brothers and one half sister, viz: - Rev. Henry M. McCracken, D. D. LL. D., chancellor of the University of New York, George McCracken, a New York attorney, and Miss Annie McCracken of Genia, Ohio.

Since 1888 Mrs. Brooks has been in charge of the Bettie Stuart Institute, a school for young ladies at Springfield, Ill. She was prominent in the work of the First Presbyterian church.
