Charles J. Rigler
Charles J. Rigler was born in Rottengen, Germany, Feb. 24, 1839, and died at his late home near Bonaparte, Ia., April 11, 1909, after an illness of several months.
He with his parents came to this county when he was six years of age and settled in Van Buren county where he has since resided. After the death of his parents he and his brother's family made their home together. He leaves to mourn his departure several nephews and nieces besides a host of friends and neighbors.
Mr. Rigler was a most pleasant and agreeable man, kind and courteous to all, a man of most sterling qualities of mind and one who possessed the respect of all who knew him. He was a sturdy, upright, consciencious [sic] man and one of our country's best and noblest citizens.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Father Troy of Farmington Tuesday and his remains were laid to rest in the Bonaparte cemetery by the side of his brother.
