MRS. SAMUEL WILEY

Isabelle Woodburn was born at Gavan Scotland, 1887. She came to America in 1912 and was married to Samuel Wiley, June 11, 1913. To this union were born seven children. Six of them are left to mourn their loss and one of them has gone before to await her coming.
She joined the church at an early age and always had an earnest desire to be present when she possibly could. She died April 22 at her home just east of Lebanon, Iowa, at 3 o’clock a.m. aged 39 years.

She was a true wife and mother. She loved her home with a self sacrifice only known to a few. She carried not what she suffered or denied herself, if only her children and husband were happy. She was easily satisfied with the things of earth and felt grateful for the least kindness shown her. She was slow to make friends but that was because of her timid nature and not a lack of desire. Those who did become acquainted with her realized a true friend and a patriotic companion. She will be missed in her home in a way which no language can express as the poet has said,

“O we miss her and how sadly Bleeding hearts alone can tell; Earth has lost her. Heaven has found her”

The funeral services were held at the family residence Sunday forenoon at 10 o’clock, conducted by Rev. H. C. Irvine, Presbyterian minister at Birmingham, an associate of Rev. Wiley at Cedar Rapids. Subject of sermon, “In my Father’s house are many many mansions.”
