WILLIAM LEE CHAPMAN
William Lee Chapman, 64, of Bonaparte died Friday, Feb. 1, at 3:15 a.m. in Van Buren County Memorial hospital, Keosauqua.
The son of Robert and Martha Schroeder Chapman, he was born October 20, 1915 at Bonaparte.
He married Lorene Wilson on October 20, 1938 at Kahoka, Mo. She survives.
A life resident of Bonaparte, he was retired and a former employee of the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant at Burlington. He was a member of the Bonaparte Presbyterian Church, the Royal Neighbors, and was a trustee for the Bonaparte cemetery.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by two sons, Robert Chapman of Shawnee, Kansas, and Randy Chapman of Davenport; two daughters, Mrs. James (Betty) DeWitt of Adel and Mrs. Jerry (Janet) DeWitt of West Union; 12 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Preceding him in death were his parents, one sister and a half-brother.
The funeral service was held Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Bonaparte Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Kenneth Harden and the Rev. Scott Holmes officiating. Burial was in the Bonaparte cemetery. The Hofbauer Funeral Home, Farmington, was in charge of arrangements.
