MRS. GEORGE MORRIS

Mrs. George Morris of Troy, wife of the pastor of the Presbyterian at that place, who was the victim of poisoning caused by pricking her hand with a needle while sewing, was buried Saturday in the Troy cemetery.

When the seriousness of the woman’s case was discovered she was rushed to St. Joseph’s hospital in Ottumwa but the poison had gotten to great a start on medical science by the time she arrived. She passed away Thursday a week ago during the morning of that day at the age of 37 years.

The funeral was conducted Saturday from the Methodist Episcopal church of Troy.

The deceased woman has been a resident of Troy for only three or four months, having came to that place from Mt. Zion, Ia.

Surviving are her husband and five children; four daughters and one son.

MRS. GEORGE R. MORRIS

Mrs. George R. Morris, wife of Rev. G. R. Morris, Presbyterian minister of Troy, died at 1 o’clock this morning at St. Joseph hospital.

The funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon at the Presbyterian church in Troy, with Rev. H. Sears Thompson of the local First Presbyterian church in charge.

OBITUARY OF THEKLA JOSEPHINE MORRIS

Thekla Josephine Lattman was born in Smalland, Sweden, Feb. 13th, 1888 and passed away March 26th, 1925, at St. Joseph Hospital, Ottumwa, Iowa, at the age of 37 years, 1 month and 12 days. She came to this country from Sweden when she was 13 years old.

At the age of 15 she accepted Christ as her Savior and has been a devoted follower of His ever since. For seven years of her life she was a missionary in Chicago and Boston.

She was united in marriage to Geo. R. Morris, June 13th, 1914, at the Moody church in Chicago. She leaves to mourn her death, a father, mother and one sister in Sweden, a brother in Spokane, Washington, her husband and five children, May, age 10; Dwight, 8; Reah, 6; Ruth, 4 and Winifred, 20 months, and besides these a host of friends. Mrs. Morris had only lived in this community a short time but had made a host of friends while here due to her many pleasing qualities. The high esteem and love of the vicinity was well shown in the many beautiful flowers, including the two churches and high school, Mt. Zion, Birmingham, Bentonsport and Ottumwa.

The funeral was conducted on Saturday at the M. E. church by Dr. H. Sears Thompson of Ottumwa, First [the remainder had been cut off]
