Maria Wilhelmina (Stebener) Wire, 1806-1900

Maria Wilhelmin Stebener was born in Eberschuctz, Hessen Kassell, Germany, June 27, 1806. She came to America in 1832 and settled first in Maryland at Baltimore. She came to Iowa in 1844 and settled in Farmington township, where she made her home the rest of her life. She was married to Ludwick Wire in Germany, October 10, 1824. To them were born six sons and six daughters, of whom seven survive her. Her husband died June 12, 1849. In 1853 she was married to Henry Finekohl, he dying in 1863. She passed away at the home of her son in Bonaparte, July 8, 1900, aged 94 years and 11 days. Three sons and four daughters survive her. There are also 45 grandchildren and 65 great-grandchildren to mourn the loss of a friend and mother. The funeral took place from the German M. E. church, west of Farmington, July 10, 1900, Rev. Barber conducting the services.
