William Frank Edmondson

William Frank Edmondson, was born September 16, 1845, in Henry county, Indiana, and passed away at his home in Milton, Iowa, early Monday morning, July 13, 1931, aged 85 years, 9 months and 27 days.

In the spring of 1846 he came with his parents to Van Buren county, where he spent the remainder of his life with the exception of two years, he and his wife spent in California.

May 9, 1872, he was united in marriage to Miss Clara Williamson. To this union were born William G. of Milton and Gilbert, who preceded his father in death.

He was a member of the Presbyterian church of Milton, having held the office of elder since the night the church was organized in 1896.

Mr. Edmondson has served the people here as postmaster and in the Citizen’s bank since 1887, until forced by ill health to retire about three years ago. He was a member of the Masonic and Eastern Star lodges, the later of which he served as Worthy Patron for nine years. In his quiet manner, Mr. Edmondson was already to serve the church and community, which he saw grow up around him. He was a devoted husband and will be sadly missed in the home. He leaves to mourn his departure, a loving companion, one son, William H. of Milton, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
