Craig Smith

Craig Smith, son of Jasper and Amanda Smith, was born in Milton, Iowa, November 4, 1809 and passed away at the Oakdale sanitarium, Sunday, July 12, at about 6 o’clock in the evening.

Early in life he was baptized and united with Christian church. Craig enlisted in the navy at Des Moines, April 15, 1917, and served in this capacity until he was honorably discharged on September 16, 1919. He spent his boyhood days in Milton and attended the public schools here.

He leaves behind, his father and mother, seven brothers, three sisters, besides many other relatives and friends. One brother and one sister passed on several years ago.

He contracted that dreaded disease tuberculosis and was taken to the Oakdale sanitarium about two months ago, where the best of care was given him, but nothing could be done to stop the ravages of the malady until death relieved him of his suffering.

Thus another young in years ahs passed on to be judged by his Maker, as each and everyone must do sooner or later. The old, the middle aged, the young and the infant, are all subject to the same call, therefore it behooves all of us who see so much of this passing to be ready when the past call shall come to us.
