HENRY KINSEY PASSES AWAY

Henry Kinsey, one of Keosauqua’s most esteemed citizens, died at the home of his brother, M. F. Kinsey, in Kellerton, Iowa, Saturday evening, August 22, 1931, at 8:30 o’clock. His wife preceded him in death just eighteen days. Mr. Kinsey had been quite feeble for several months with heart trouble. After the death of his wife he went to the home of his brother, where he could be cared for. In his death Keosauqua loses one of its best citizens and the community a stalwart, true and honest man

Obituary

Henry Kinsey, son of John and Rebecca Ann Kinsey, was born in Fazewell county, Illinois, October 29, 1855, and departed this life August 22, 1931, at the age of 75 years, 9 months and 23 days. He was the oldest of five children; one brother, Seth, preceded him in death in 1926. Those surviving are Margaret Manker of Gridley, Ill., Charles S. of Fremont, Ill. and M. F. of Kellerton, Iowa.

He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Hafliger of Dillon, Ill., March 3, 1880, who passed away June 26, 1896, To this union was born one son, H. E. of Wichita, Kansas.

Mr. Kinsey came to Van Buren county, Iowa, in 1897, locating on a farm south of Keosauqua. He was united in marriage to Jennie Akey December 21, 1899, who preceded him in death just 18 days. In the year of 1912, they retired from active farm life and moved to Keosauqua, which has since been their home.

He united with the Christian church at the age of 20 years and has remained a faithful member ever since. His departure leaves one son, H. E. Kinsey of Wichita, Kansas, one grandson, Charles, one sister, two brothers and a host of relatives and friends. He was a retiring disposition, true to his convictions, saying ill of no one.

Funeral services were held at the Keosauqua Christian church, Monday afternoon, August 24, 1931, in charge of Rev. C. V. Allison, former pastor here, now of Fairfield, assisted by W. R. Willson, pastor. Burial in Fellows cemetery.
