He was married in 1864 to Emma Christina Peterson. To this union were born seven children, four of whom have preceded him to the better land, three living are Gustave N., Jennie and John E. Deceased was a member of the Lutheran church. He with his wife and two children came to this country in 1869; lived in Keokuk three years, moved from there to Willets Station where he has resided until time of death. In all of the time he has been a great sufferer but bore all without complaint and seemed at any time ready to be called to rest that the Lord saw fit to do so. He was a most kind and tender father and always willing to lend a helping hand to his fellow man. He leaves to mourn their loss his wife, three children, one grandchild and four brothers, three living in Sweden and one in Kossuth county, Iowa.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Carson at Story Chapel Thursday afternoon. Interment in Thompson cemetery. Death resulted from a complication of diseases.
