William Rilly Bowles jr, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Rilly Bowles sr, died of inflamation[sic] of the bowels Oct. 24th, 1901. Born Nov. 26th, 1900. Age 10 months and 28 days. Little Willie was so loving and affectionate that he won all hearts at once and was the pride of his home. He suffered intensely during the three days of his sickness, and even until the last moment, when the hand of God took him, and he passed away sweetly to rest. The funeral was held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Acasto chapel. Rev. G.C. Goodenough officiating. The remains were laid in that cemetery. The pall bearers were Bell Sullivan, Annie Lowery, Maggie Sappington and Lydie Nelson.
Dear little hands we loved them so;
Soon they’ll be lying under the snow;
Under the snow – so cold and white-
We cannot see them or touch them tonight.They are quiet and still at last, ah me;
How busy and restless they used to be
But now they can never reach up
through the snow.
Dear little Willie we loved you so.Dear little hands we miss them so,
All through the day where ever we go
All through the night how lonely it
seems,
For no little hands wakes us out of
our dreams.
Dear little hands they have gone from
us now,
Never again will they rest on our
brow:
Never again smooth our sorrowful face,
Never no more clasp us in childish
embrace.
And now our forehead grows wrinkled
with care
Thinking of the little hands once
resting there
But we know in a happier heavenly
clime,
Dear little Willie we will clasp you
sometime.If we keep our eyes fixed on the
heavenly gate;
Over the tide where the white robed
ones wait:
Shall we know you, we wonder among
the bright band.
Will you beckon us over, oh dear
little hands.-M.H.E.
