Died, at her home five miles west of Farmington, Iowa, on Feb. 9th 1897, at 10:30 o’clock p.m., Mrs. Eliza Bowles, wife of Mr. Wm. R. Bowles, aged 46 years, 5 months and 17 days.
Mrs. Bowles, whose maiden name was Miss Eliza Davidson, was born near the place of her death on the 23d day of August, 1850. She was married to Mr. Wm. R. Bowles the first day of January 1873, who after a married life of nearly 25 years is left to mourn her departure. To this union was born to them three children, Mrs. Daisy Wollam and Misses Edna and Earle Bowles, all of whom survive her. She leaves a husband and three children, two grand children and a host of relatives and friends to mourn her loss. The cause of her death was pneumonia and by having weak lungs it was more than her constitution could stand. She was a great sufferer the last few days of her life. She bade her husband and children and friends good bye and told them to meet her in heaven.
The funeral took place Thursday at 2 o’clock p.m. at the Union Chapel of Acasto. Rev. G.C. Goodenough preached a most eloquent sermon to a very large audience gathered to pay their last respects to the departed. She is gone, her work is done and she is at rest.
Our dear mother from us has gone
Her voice we loved is stilled,
A place is vacant in our home,
Which never can be filled.
