Jacob Wanner 1845-1927

Jacob, son of Jacob and Elizabeth Wanner, was born Feb. 16th, 1845 in the Village of Baden, province of Baden, Germany, and departed this life Jan. 1, 1927, at the age of 81 years, 10 months, and 15 days. He being fouth in a family of eight children, two sisters and five brothers.

When seven years of age his father emigrated to America to seek a home. After a stormy passage of six weeks on a sailing vessel they landed in New York City, stopping there six weeks, then moved to Pittsburg, Pa., where they lived three months. Then down the Ohio river to Cairo, Ill., and from there to Ft. Madison, living there a few months. And in the spring of 1852 moved to a farm in Lee county, near Farmington, where he grew to manhood amid the hardships of early settlers.

In 1875 he purchased the farm near Bonaparte where he passed the remainder of his life.
He was united in marriage with Miss Henrietta Wyer Dec. 23, 1878, at Athens, Mo. To this union were born four children: Frank A., John J., Byron W., all of Bonaparte, and Harry H., who passed from this life June 27, 1920.

He leaves to mourn their loss his wife, three sons, seven grandchildren and two brothers, William and Daniel of Farmington.

He was baptized in the German Evangelical church of which he was a devout follower, living an upright conscientious life, ever ready to sacrifice for others and was especially fond of children
