Death of Michael Schau

Michael Schau, for more than fifty years a resident of Farmington township, died at the home of his son Tuesday evening, July 17. Mr. Schau was born April 16, 1817, in Schwartzburg-Rudelstadt, Germany. He was married in 1853 to Christiana Oswald, and they came to the United States the following year, locating near Farmington. Soon after coming to Farmington township they bought the farm which was their homestead for over fifty years. Mrs. Schau died in 1903. One son, Louis Schau, and three daughters, Caroline Schrepfer, Mary Heise and Martha Mack survive.

The deceased helped to organize the [St. Johannes German Lutheran Church] in Farmington and was a steadfast member during all the years of his long life.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon at the Indian Creek German M. E. church by Rev. J. Birkner of Primrose. The remains were laid to rest in the Steinmeyer cemetery.
