The service for Helen Farnum CRESSWELL, 88, 601 N. Court St., who died at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, 1994, at Jefferson County Hospital, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Behner Funeral Home with the rev. Dick Wallarab officiating. Burial will be in Vale Cemetery north of Bonaparte. Visitation will be open at the funeral home beginning Friday. A memorial has been established to Van Buren County Historical Society.
Miss CRESSWELL was born Oct. 11, 1905, in Harrisburg Township, Van Buren County, the daughter of John and Grace FARNUM CRESSWELL. She graduated from DePaul University in Chicago. She was a WPA administrator for the State of Iowa Welfare Department and managed the family farm in Van Buren County, which was a short horned cattle and hog breeding operation. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and a more than 50-year member of Daughters of the American Revolution. She was the last member of her family that founded the farm in Van Buren County.
Surviving are several cousins. A brother, John Jr. and a sister, Florence, preceded her in death.
