S. Jackson Heath
Stonewall Jackson Heath, son of Richard and Emma Heath, was born near Chambersburg, Clark county, Mo., Jan 24, 1863, and passed away at his home in Mt. Sterling, Iowa, Dec. 26, 1940, being 77 years, 11 months and 2 days of age.
His entire life was spent in various parts of Clark county, Mo., and Van Buren county, Iowa, living the past three years in Mt. Sterling.
In very young manhood he united with the Methodist Episcopal church at Chambersburg and retained his membership there until the time of his death. He was very fond of his family and especially fond of little children.
He was united in marriage to Miss Mollie Elwood at Shelbyville, Mo., on April 14, 1883. To this union six children were born, four of whom survive, one son who died in infancy, and Harry, who passed away in 1923 at the age of 23, having preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, Charles of Mt. Sterling, and George who lives at home, two daughters, Mrs. Gertie Jackson of Plymouth, California and Mrs. Emma Zachau of Keosauqua, Iowa, two grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Griffiths of Keosauqua and Mrs. Linnie Tennant of Los Angeles, Calif; two brothers, Charlie and Harry Heath, both of Acasto, Mo. (One brother and two sisters preceded him in death.) These together with a number of other relatives and a host of friends mourn his departure. Mrs. Zachau is ill and was unable to attend the services.
Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. C.H. Orf, were held from the Center Chapel Methodist church on Saturday, Dec. 28, 1940. Interment was in Center Chapel cemetery.
