Keith Edward Smith, 66, of Douds, died of cancer at 8:15 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2002, at home.
The funeral was held at 10:30 a.m. today at Christ United Methodist Church in Douds, with the Rev. Connie Markle officiating. Burial was in Zion Lutheran Cemetery east of Douds.
Memorials to Van Buren Count Hospice or the charity of of the donor's choice may be left at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds or mailed to the family, 14393 Gray Ave., Douds, 52551.
Mr. Smith was born Dec. 3, 1935 near Farson, the son of Raphael and Charlotte Neva Miller Smith.
He graduated from Douds High School in 1954. He married Sondra Greenfield Feb. 8, 1958 in Christ United Methodist Church, Douds. He worked as a loader operator at Douds Stone, Inc. and as a carpenter for Fairfield Lumber Co., and was a self employed carpenter for 38 years.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Brian Smith of Libertyville; one daughter, Joan Aldrich Davis and her husband Glen of Parker, Colo.; five grandsons; two brothers, Donald Smith of Douds, and Gerald Smith of Batavia; five sisters, Lulu Bell Collett of Hedrick, Alice Lee of North Liberty, Dorothy Bates of Fort Madison, Virginia Faulkner of Hedrick, and Anna Marie Miller of Springfield, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Dale and Floyd Smith.
