Doris Elaine Riley, 58, a resident of Nickelson Little Farms near Gillette, died in her home on Saturday, April 8, 1989, of an apparent heart attack.
A funeral will take place Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Noecker Funeral Home Chapel in Gillette, with Pastor Dale Odden of the New Life Wesleyan Church officiating.
Another service will take place in Cantril, Iowa, on Friday at 11 a.m. in the Cantril Methodist Church with Rev. Andrew Rubenking officiating. Burial will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Cantril.
Mrs. Riley was born on Nov. 15, 1930, in Schyler County, Mo., to Guy and Mary (Phillips) Ruggles. She was raised on a farm northwest of Memphis, Mo. She attended rural elementary schools and graduated from Memphis High School.
In 1949, she married George Dorson. They had two children.
On March 3, 1960, she married Floyd "Jack" Riley Jr. in Memphis, and they lived on a farm 15 miles northwest of Memphis until 1976, when they moved to Gillette. They have made their home since at the Nickelson Little Farms.
Mrs. Riley's favorite pastimes included cooking, collecting cookbooks, gardening and reading.
She is survived by her husband, Floyd "Jack" Riley Jr. of Gillette; six sons, Dwayne Dorson, David Dorson, Jay Riley, Stewart Riley and Earl D. Riley, all of Gillette. and Gary R. Riley of Agency, Iowa; one daughter, Mrs. Ned "Sharon" Beggs of Cantril, Iowa; her mother, Mary Fryrear of Downing, Mo.; one sister, Mrs. Eugene (Helen) Newland of Memphis; 14 grandchildren.
Mrs. Riley was preceded in death by her father, Guy Ruggles.
Memorials have been established to either the American Heart fund or to Campbell County Health Care Foundation for cardiac care.
Persons wishing to pay their respects may do so at Noecker Funeral Home Chapel today from 3 to 7 p.m. or Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
