4 March 1980Mrs. Countryman dies
BIRMINGHAM --- Wealtha Countryman, 82, of Birmingham, died this morning at Jefferson County Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Services will be Thursday, 2 p.m., at Birmingham Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at Burch Funeral Home in Birmingham all day Wednesday. Memorials to the Cancer Society may be left at the funeral home.
Mrs. Countryman was born May 12, 1897 at Birmingham, the daughter of Levi and Belle Jameson Umphrey. On Feb. 16, 1916 she married William Jay Countryman who died April 1, 1964.
Surviving are a son, Robert of rural Fairfield; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a brother, Robert Umphrey of Birmingham. A brother and a sister preceded her in death.
Mrs. Countryman was a member of the United Presbyterian Women's Association of Birmingham.
