Juanita M. HOOTMAN, 54, of Ottumwa, died Friday, March 29, 2002, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center in Ottumwa.
The body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at the First United Methodist Church in Ottumwa, with the Rev, Connie Markle officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Douds.
No visitation is planned. Memorials may be made to Southeast Iowa Affliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc., c/o Robertson-Jay Funeral Home. 220 N. Court St., Ottumwa 52501.
Ms. Hootman was born Oct. 24, 1947, the daughter of Lester Veryl and Erma POOL HOOTMAN in Ottumwa.
She graduated from Van Buren Community High School in Keosauqua, Keokuk Community College in Keokuk and attended Iowa Wesleyan. She worked for McCall's Information Center, Van Buren Community Schools, Douds Center and as a teacher-aide, Universal Producing Company and was Iowa sales coordinator for KTVO Television Channel 3/ABC.
She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. She was founder and past president of Professional Women in Advertising Sales, past president of promotional group Bobby Williams Enterprise, Inc., a member of Burlington Steamboat Days, Twin City Chapter of Order of Eastern Star, Ottumwa, Professional Balloon Races, Ottumwa Chamber of Commerce membership drives and public relations committees and M*A*S*H* 4077 committee. Some of her pastimes included painting, drawing, writing poetry, creative crafts and interior decorating.
Survivors include her father, Lester V. HOOTMAN; two sisters, Imogene PEACOCK of Douds and Barbara BRICKER of Mount Pleasant; and two brothers, Wayne HOOTMAN of Douds and Darrell HOOTMAN of Ankeny.
She was preceded in death by her mother and one brother, Dennis HOOTMAN.
