Dennis V. HOOTMAN, 60, of rural Douds died unexpectedly at his home Thursday evening, June 3. 1999.
Dr. Matthew Manning, deputy Van Buren County medical examiner, estimated the time of death at 9 p.m. The deceased was found by his father Friday morning.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. today at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds. Burial was in Zion Lutheran Cemetery east of Douds. Memorials to the family may be left at the funeral home.
Mr. HOOTMAN was born May 19, 1939, near Douds, the son of Lester V. and Erma POOL HOOTMAN. He married Beverly JEFFERSON in 1959. They were later divorced. He married Elizabeth Harper STANTON at Oak Grove Church in 1972. They later divorced.
He attended Oak Grove rural school and Douds High School. He worked at the Dexter Co. and was a truck driver for Ideal Ready Mix Co. for more than 30 years, retiring in January 1998.
Survivors include two daughter, Rebecca WEEDEN of West Bend, Wis., and Kimberlie SALES of Fairfield; four sons, Charles HOOTMAN of Anna, Ill., William HOOTMAN of Fort Madison, Daniel HOOTMAN of Fairfield and Scott HOOTMAN of Iowa City; seven grandchildren; his father of Douds; two sisters, Imogene PEACOCK of Douds and Juanita HOOTMAN of Ottumwa; and two brothers, Wayne HOOTMAN of Douds and Darrell HOOTMAN of Ankeny.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
