Carl William JOHNSON

Carl William JOHNSON, son of Arthur JOHNSON and Josephine PETERSON, was born at Stronghurst, Ill., March 29. 1902, and was called to his heavenly reward at his home southeast of Stockport, Iowa, March 11, 1959, at the age of 56 years, 11 1/2 months.

On Dec. 22, 1920 he was united in marriage with Nina Pearl SWAILES, at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. To this union was born three children, Helen ROSS, Bonaparte; Lorayne MADICK, Fresno, Calif., who was unable to attend, and Jim at home. They survive as well as his wife Nina; his father Arthur, of Stockport; two brothers, Harold of Burlington and Virgil of Chicago; a half-brother, Sam of California and a half-sister, Arlene, Austin, Minn.; six grandchildren, Debra and Douglas MADICK and Sharon, Michael, Pennie and Tommie ROSS.

When a young man Carl united with the Hillsboro Christian church and until his last illness kept him confined he was a regular attendant of the Stockport Christian church. He spent his life in the Hillsboro and Stockport area.

Carl was a kind and devoted father to his family and friends, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. He always loved to work and derived a great pleasure from his work. He will always be remembered for his devotion to his wife, children, sons-in-law, grandchildren and his host of neighbors and friends.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, who died in infancy; two brothers, one which died in infancy and Cecil at the age of 28 and his mother.
