Frances DOSHER

Frances E. DOSHER, 91, of Salem, formerly of Mount Pleasant, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, at Park Place in Mount Pleasant.

Born July 4, 1917, in Douds, she was the daughter of Edward and Alice CREEK DUKE. She married Clarence "Shorty" FARISS. They divorced. She then married Hugh DOSHER. They divorced.

Mrs. DOSHER worked as a certified nurses aide at the Mount Pleasant Mental Health Institute for more than 20 years, retiring in the 1970s.

She attended rural country schools and was a member of the Republican Women. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, playing games and piece puzzles with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cooking -- with fried bread being a specialty, crossword and word-find puzzles and reading.

Survivors include two sons, Ralph FARISS of Montrose and Herbert FARISS of Central Point, Ore.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and more than five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, three brothers and four sisters.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Weir & Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. DOSHER will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Weir & Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Nathan C. Martin officiating. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery in rural Douds.

A memorial has been established for the Crew Public Library Building Fund in Salem.
