OLD RESIDENT OF VAN BUREN COUNTY DIES

Henry HOOTMAN, 85, born and lived in community all his life

Henry HOOTMAN, 85, well known pioneer resident of Van Buren county, passed away Thursday about 1:10 p.m. at his home in the Oak Grove community after a lingering illness.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Mt. Moriah church. Rev. George Reichert, Fairfield, will officiate.

Mr. HOOTMAN was born Feb. 24, 1858, in Van Buren county. He was born, reared and lived all his life in the same community. He was the son of the late Jacob and Martha HOOTMAN.

Mr. HOOTMAN was united in marriage to Laura CRAWFORD, who preceded him in death on February 9, 1942. They had celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary before her death. He was a member of the Oak Grove Free Methodist church.

Surviving are three daughters; Alice, at home, Mrs. Iva COHENOUR of Ottumwa, and Mrs. Ella PARROTT of Douds. He also leaves two sons, Walter HOOTMAN, Douds, and Lewis HOOTMAN who lives in Birmingham. One brother Jacob HOOTMAN, also survives. One son Clyde preceded him in death.

The body was taken to the Weston Behner Funeral home.

Having lived in the same community all of his life, Mr. HOOTMAN will be greatly missed by many friends. He was well known throughout the county.
