Lucy A. Miller died January 27, 1905, at the home of A. B. Hixon near Hillsboro, aged 59 years, 10 months, and two days.

Lucy A. Detwiler was born near Uniontown, Fayette Co., Penn., March 25, 1845. When she was six years of age the family removed to Adamsville, Muskingum county, Ohio and from there to Bentonsport, Iowa, in April 1854. She was married Oct. 18, 1863 to George W. Miller who departed this life May 30, 1896, aged 59 years and 10 mos.

Mrs. Miller was the mother of nine children, seven of whom are living, Mrs. Hattie E. Morris, Mrs. M. Franc Hixon, John C., George M., James M., and Ray P. Miller of this vicinity; also Hugh H. Miller of Branson, Kansas. She also leaves four grand-daughters, two brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Miller became a Christian when fifteen years of age and united with the Mt. Zion Baptist church. After her marriage she transferred her membership to the Harrisburg church to which she remained a faithful member until death.

She has been in poor health for several months but during the last year failed rapidly. She realized the approach of death and though reluctant to leave her loved ones longed to depart and be at rest.

Mrs. Miller lived her life in her family, the church and the vicinity in a faithful unobtrusive manner. Many a sick neighbor knew her kindly ministrations. Her children feel that no words could form a fitting tribute to their mothers worth.

The funeral service was conducted by the pastor, Rev. Wm. Todd of Harrisburg who spoke for I Thess. 4-14. Interrment [sic] took place in the White cemetery Jan. 30, 1905.
