Emily E. Blake was born in Indiana Nov. 10, 1813. Her mother died when she was a child and she went to live with her aunt with whose family she lived until her marriage to Thomas McCoy in Feb. 1836. To this union was born two daughters, the oldest having passed to the better world in early womanhood, the other, Francis V. Newman, who died four days before her mother. Father McCoy died Feb. 21, 1894. After his death she made her home most of the time with her granddaughter, Mrs. C. H. Gares. She died Jan. 28, 1901, aged 87 years, 2 months and 18 days. Funeral at Acasto Chapel Wednesday Jan. 30, conducted by Rev. A. Wiggins in the presence of old friends and neighbors.
