OBITUARY SKETCH.

Effie May Foster was born in Bonaparte, Iowa, Sept. 21, 1874. When about eleven years old she moved with her parents to their present home, three miles southwest of Cantril.

On October 14, 1896, she was united in marriage with Mr. Edward f. Pittman.

After their marriage they lived on the farm near Cantril and in Cantril until January, 1901, when they moved to Keosauqua, since which time Mr. Pittman has been Deputy Clerk of the Court. To them were born four children, all of whom are living. They are Mabel, aged 5, Mildred, aged 3, Claud, aged 2, and the baby Lela 5 weeks old. After the birth of Lela Mrs. Pittman seemed to be recovering at times but relapses came and she passed out from life here to the life beyond on Sunday, May 31, 1903, at the age of 29 years, 6 months and 10 days.

Besides her husband and children she leaves bereaved, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Foster, three sisters and one brother, all residing near Cantril.

Sister Pittman united with the Baptist church in Farmington in 1896.

She was a good woman, she dearly loved her home, and was devoted to her husband and children. She was loved by all who knew her.

Owing to the high water the burial was delayed until Friday June 5, when funeral services were held in the Methodist church in Cantril, the services being conducted by Rev. George L. Minear assisted by Eld. G. A. Hendrickson although the roads were almost impassable a large number of friends from Keosauqua were present.

The casket was covered with flowers expressing both the high esteem in which Sister Pittman was held and the deep sympathy of friends for the bereaved family.

The body was by loving hands, tenderly laid to rest in the Cantril cemetery. She is at rest. Our loss is her gain. In our sorrow we remember that "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble."
