Mary Ann Humphryes Chapman 1838-1903

HUMPHRYES, CHAPMAN, CORE, RADESTOCK

Mary Ann Humphryes was born in London, England, April 20, 1838 and died May 28, 1903, aged 65 years, 1 month and 8 days.

She removed to America with the family in 1845 and settled in Lee county and moved from there to Bonaparte where she was married to William Chapman November 29, 1858, and this union was blessed by the visitation of nine children, five of which survive her: Robt. Lee, Wm., Philip and Julia, all of whom reside in this vicinity and Mrs. Maude Core who lives in Capron, Okla.

Deceased has been a severe sufferer from heart and stomach affliction for many months, but accepted her apportionment of the ills of this life with fortitude and was ever cheerful and gave much thought to the comfort of those who ministered to her wants.

While not a member of any church, she was a firm believer in the living Christ and filled the daily lives of those around her with grave which she derived from her implicit faith. Her whole life was devoted to her family and the cars devolving upon her and she found little pleasure in duties not tending to the happiness of her loved ones.

It was her expressed wish that she be buried in the Bonaparte cemetery near the grave of her sons wife, Alma, and we are glad to announce that her last resting place is beside the one who was so well loved in life.

Besides the children and husband, she leaves, among other relatives, one brother, H. H. Humphryes and one sister, Mrs. F. Radestock of this [cut off]
