Miss Isabel Gwinnup, postmaster at Mr. Sterling for past seventeen years, and assistant postmaster before that time, making her total service in that office thirty-one years, died of pneumonia at her home about five o’clock Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 22 at the age of 63 years.
Funeral services were held at the Mt. Sterling Methodist church Saturday afternoon with interment in Cantril cemetery. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Gwinnup, both of whom preceded her in death about twenty years ago.
She is survived by three sisters, Alice, with whom she made her home in Mt. Sterling, Mrs. Will Prall of Mt. Sterling, and Mrs. Martha Snare of Oklahoma City, Okla., and by one brother, John L. Gwinnup of Keosauqua.
Miss Gwinnup, known to her many friends as “Belle,” had seemed in her usual health and had attended the funeral of her friend, Mrs. Fred Weller, at Acasto, Mo., on the Sunday previous to her death.
