Geo. V. Hellwig.
Mr. Hellwig was born at Rin Falls, German, May 4, 1823. He came to America in 1846 and settled in Philadelphia, where he was married to Miss Catherine Frank, April 15, 1851.They came to Bonaparte in 1867, and settled on the farm south of town, which has since been their home. He was a devout member of the German Lutheran Church.
Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Hellwig, of whom three sons, Fred, of Farmington township, George of Bonaparte township, and Harry of Ottumwa, and one daughter, Emma, who lives at home, survive. The aged wife is left to mourn the loss of her devoted companion.
The funeral was held at the old home, Tuesday, G. W. Barber, of Unionville, Iowa, conducting the services.
