MRS. ALICE HOUSE
__________________________________________________Mrs. Alice Rogers House, daughter of John and Mahala Rogers, was born at Bonaparte Oct. 22, 1854. She departed this life July 10, 1936, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fred Huff of Mexico, Mo. She had reached the ripe old age of 81 years, 6 months, and 8 days.
Mrs. House was united in marriage to W.H. House, March 19, 1871, and to this union nine children were born, one of them dying in infancy. The other children are Mrs. Amos Steinmeyer of Farmington, deceased; Mrs. B.A. Churchill of Eureka, Calif., deceased; George of Denver, Colo.; Ora of Milton, Ia.; Mrs. Fred Huff of Mexico. Mo.; Glen of Greeley, Colo.; Roy of Portland, Oregon; and Harvey of Redding, Calif.
They made their home on a farm in the Story Chapel neighborhood until nineteen years ago when they retired from the farm and moved to Farmington. A little over three years ago her husband departed this life, and about two years ago Mrs. House went to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Huff at Mexico, Mo.
Jan. 17, 1935, she was subjected to a paralytic stroke and continued to decline in health until her death.
One brother died at the age of 30 years. She leaves to mourn her departure six children, seventeen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
For many years Mrs. House has been a very faithful member of the Methodist Episcopal church. She was a splendid Christian woman. Her husband was in failing health for six years before his death and Mrs. House gave him constant care and devotion.
Funeral services were held in the Farmington Methodist church Sunday afternoon at 3:00 and were conducted by her pastor, the Rev. Harvey Butler. Her body was laid to rest beside her husband in the Farmington cemetery.
