RUTH VICKERMAN

Ruth Vickerman, 91, of 22730 210th street, Keosauqua, died February 4, 2001, at Integrated Health Services in Des Moines of a heart ailment.

She was born February 28, 1909, the daughter of John and Justina (Bohun) Downard in Utica.

She lived most of her life in Keosauqua: She worked as a school teacher in Stockport and had owned and operated Vick’s Café with her husband, Robert, in Keosauqua. She spent many years of service to her church. She enjoyed doing sewing and crafts with her grandchildren, and will be remembered most for her sweet personality.

She was a member of the Keosauqua Congregational Church and the Woman’s fellowship of her church.

Survivors include her husband, Robert of Keosauqua; a son Robert L. Vickerman of Monroe, WI.; two daughters, Janine R. Waters and Jeri A. Cain, both of Des Moines; 10 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.

There will be no visitation as she donated her body to the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines.

Memorial services will be held in Keosauqua at a later dater.
