JEANNE GAFFNEY EVANS

Jeanne Evans, 79, of Des Moines died of breast cancer Sunday, January 12, 2003, at Hospice Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Services were held Friday, January 17, 2003, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, of which she was a member. Burial was at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Mrs. Evans was born October 8, 1923, in Memphis, Missouri, the daughter of Dean and Mary Gaffney. She graduated from Milton High School in 1942 and had lived in Granger before moving to Des Moines 42 years ago. She was a retired Avon sales representative and a member of Avon President's Club. She enjoyed traveling, camping and her rose garden.

She is survived by her husband John; three daughters, Sandra Burgett and Terri Gabriel, both of Des Moines, and Joy Bishop of Baxter; two sons, Mike of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Mark of Des Moines; a sister, Norma Zeitler of Douds; two brothers, Norris Gaffney of Memphis and Jerry Gaffney of Bamaveld, Wisconsin; nine grandchildren; and tenn great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Kavanagh House in Des Moines.
