DOROTHY "DOT" POLL0CK FREE
Dorothy "Dot" Pollock Free, 75, of Albany, Georgia, formerly of Keosauqua died Monday, February 3, 2003, at Palmyra Medical Center. She was born in Albany to Walter and Mabel Overby. She married Robert M. Pollock, Sr. January 17, 1958 in Albany. He died August 28, 1993. She married Renno J. "R. J." Free in 1996.
She graduated from Albany High School in 1944 and was crowned Cotton Ball Queen at the Radium Springs Casino also in 1944. She attended Asbury College, Wilmore, Kentucky on a music scholarship and had played the piano and organ in many churches.
She had lived in various places in the Midwest including St. Louis and Kimberling City, Missouri and Fairfield and Keosauqua, Iowa. She moved back to Albany after her marriage to Mr. Free. In Albany she was a member of Lemad Chapel, P.E.O. and Southwest Georgia Exchange Club. She was instrumental in starting the hospice program in Van Buren county after the death of her husband and daughter to cancer.
Surviving are her husband; two sons, Robert M. Pollock, Jr. and his wife, Nancy of San Antonio, Texas and Curtis J. Pollock of Erba, Utah; a daughter, Cynthia J. Thompson and her husband, Bud, of Kirksville, Missouri; three grandsons; a great-grandson and two brothers, Willard Overby of Escondido, California and Bo Overby of Gainesville, Georgia.
She was preceded in death in addition to Mr. Pollock by her parents and a daughter, Kathleen Thompson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 6, 2003 at Kimbrell-Stem Mortuary, Albany, Rev. Dr. Bill Eidenire officiating. Burial will be in Floral Memory Gardens, Albany.
