17 July 1919 / Farmington, Iowa (Newpaper clipping found in Newman Family Bible)
The death summons came suddenly and unexpectedly to a respected citizen of Farmington, Albert Newman, at an early hour this morning. Mr. Newman had retired last evening, apparently in his usual health, and about 3 o'clock this morning his wife was awakened by his peculiar breathing, spoke to him and receiving no response, made an investigatin and discovered he was ill, and immediatlyl called the next door neighbor, Mrs. Alma Kelley, who responded in person, then called Dr. Coffin, who lived near by, but the spirit had fled ere the doctor reached his bedside. Apoplexy was pronounced the cause.
Mr. Newman was a retired farmer who moved to town a few years ago, but still owned his farm just a short distance out. He is survived by his wife and several children. An obituary will be published next week.
