Obituary.
Adam Boyer was born June 5, 1822, in Baltimore, Maryland, and died October 9, 1901, aged 79 years, 4 months and 4 days. When five years old he came with his parents to Zanesville, Ohio. In 1837 his parents moved to Iowa settling in Farmington when there were only three log houses in the place. Soon afterward he purchased land on Indian creek which was afterward known as the Bassel Boyer farm. In 1852 he went to California, returning in August, 1853, and was married to Rachel Jane McCormack in October of the same year. Then he bought a farm about four miles west of Farmington which he lived on all his married life. To them were born seven children, three of whom are living with the wife and mother to mourn his death. Mr. Boyer was always a hard working man and was in the best of health up to March 12, 1888, when he bitten by a dog since which he was a constant sufferer more or less and which presumably was the cause, to some extent, of his death. The funeral services were held at the house, conducted by Rev. Geo. H. When, the body interment being in the Thompson cemetery on Thursday afternoon October 10.
