Celebration of life services for Opal Wilcox, 95, of Bettendorf, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport. Visitation is Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Muscatine.
Mrs. Wilcox passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2010, at Muscatine Lutheran Valley View Manor. She was born in Douds, Iowa, in 1914, the daughter of Ernest M. and E. Josephine Brown. Her marriage was to Henry Keith Wilcox on November 30, 1935, in Ottumwa, Iowa. He preceded her in death on June 1, 1993.
Opal worked for 26 years in the meat packing department of Oscar Mayer, retiring in 1975. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, dancing, and traveling. Her favorite times were with her grandchildren and family.
Survivors include her daughters, Karen Joy Svacina, Eldridge, Iowa., and Cheryl Lynn Jessen, Davenport; sons, Richard K. Wilcox and Jack Wayne Wilcox, both of Florida; sister, Beatrice Jones, Ottumwa; and brothers, William Brown, Wellman, Iowa, and Charles Brown, Waterloo, Iowa.
Five sisters and two brothers also preceded her in death.
