OBITUARY

Allison Grant Murdock was born at Sigourney, August 24, 1864. He died August 21, 1927, age 63 years, 11 months and 26 days. He was the son of M. D. and Aley [sic] Jane Murdock.

When a young man he married Ella Fender of Mercer county, Illinois. To this union were born two daughters, Bernice and Myrtle. The wife and daughter Myrtle preceded him in death a number of years ago.

Later he was married to Lena Kennedy of Viola, Ill. They then moved to Milton, Iowa, where he has since resided. She also preceded him in death.

On February 1, 1925, he was married to Mrs. Bessie Blough of Milton, Iowa.

Of his family left to mourn his death are his wife, and daughter Mrs. Bernice Saylor of Waterloo; two grand-children, Margaret Saylor and Emery Workman. Also a step-daughter Luzon Blough. Six brothers and three sisters: J.C. of Douds; W. S. of Gilman; A. W. of Millston; Mrs. R. B. Gibson; Ernest of Manning, Ill.; Russell, Reynolds, Ill.; Mrs. Jessie Ramsey of Hamilton, Ill.; Mrs. Louisa Foster of Illinois City; Mrs. Julia Book of Laselle, Illinois. Three brothers preceded him in death years ago.

He was a member of Aurora No. 50 A. F. & a. M., Milton; Siroc No. 133 Royal Arch Chapter, Milton; El Chanan No. 28 Knight Templars, Keosauqua; Kaaba Temple Mystic Shrine, Davenport.

The funeral was held from the M. E. church in Milton, Tuesday afternoon, August 23rd, conducted by Rev. H. F. Gilbert, and interment in Sunnyside cemetery.

Mrs. Murdock was an honest, upright man, a kind husband and father, and was identified with the best interests of the community in which he lived. It can be said of him that his goodly influence will long be remembered. His wife and relatives have the sympathy of all in this sad hour of bereavement.
